My main areas of interest are hill and countryside walking in the UK, especially in south and south-west regions, also UK and European travel. I have interests in nature, native woodlands, local history and architecture. I have been a keen hill walker for most of my life and have walked in many parts of the UK, from the rugged mountains of Scotland, to the gentler contours of the Mendip Hills.
I hold a Mountain Leader (summer) Certificate and have also worked as a part-time outdoor education instructor (though that was a good few years ago..!).
I am also a member of the Outdoor Writers and Photographers Guild (www.owpg.org.uk).
Over the years I have written a number of books, all fully illustrated throughout with my own photographs, including Walking the Kennet and Avon Canal (2016), Walking the Ridgeway (2016) and Walking the North Wessex Downs (2015).
I have also written articles for a range of magazines including being the walks writer for Hampshire Life for seven years and the walks writer for Berkshire and Buckinghamshire Life for over eight years, as well as travel articles for both national, and local newspapers.
Main geographical areas covered are:
- Somerset, Dorset, Devon, Cornwall, Hampshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Wiltshire
- New Forest National Park
- The Chilterns AONB
- North Wessex Downs AONB
