About Steve Davison

I'm a freelance writer and landscape photographer based in South West England close to the junction of Somerset, Dorset and Devon, having previously been based in Berkshire for 30 years, covering hill and countryside walking especially in the south and south-west regions, as well as UK and European travel. I have interests in nature, native woodlands, geology and local history. I have been a keen hill walker and photographer for most of my life and hold a Mountain Leader (summer) Certificate, I have also worked as a part-time outdoor education instructor (though that was a few years ago..!).

Over the years I have written and illustrated a number of books, including Walking the Kennet and Avon Canal, Walking the Ridgeway and Walking in the New Forest, as well as providing contributions to several other titles. I have also written numerous articles for a range of newspapers and magazines, including a monthly walks feature (text and photographs) for a Berkshire / Buckinghamshire lifestyle magazine between 2010 and 2018 and for a Hampshire lifestyle magazine between 2011 and 2018; my photographs have also been used on magazine covers. I am also a member of the Outdoor Writers and Photographers Guild.

As for camera equipment, I have been a lifelong Olympus user and currently use Olympus Digital Micro Four Thirds cameras and lenses.
